MAKING THE MEDITATIONS
The Meditations consist of an integrated set of 16 Meditations by St De La Salle. In a small group setting, one hour of priority time is given to each Meditation in sequence. During the hour the Meditation is read meditatively, reflected upon, prayed over, and silent contemplative time given to letting oneself be graced. Towards the end of the hour there is opportunity for each participant to share briefly. The exercise concludes with the writing of a response.
PRIORITY TIME
It is expected that an hour be given to each Meditation.
A suggested program for the hour, with time allotments for the sections of it, will be offered.
With some guarantee, one undertaking a journey of experiencing the Meditations would need basically to be able to spend an hour of priority time weekly for 16 weeks, making the Meditations consecutively.
COMMUNAL SETTING
There is room for creativity within the hour, but essential to it is personal silent time for meditative reading, reflection and prayer. The optimal way of making the Meditations is to do so in a communal setting, with a time for sharing built into the hour.
ACCOMPANIMENT
Each participant corresponds regularly in writing with a spiritual director/guide who accompanies the participant on the journey.
A team of qualified and experienced spiritual directors/ guides provides this accompaniment.
FACILITATOR
Each group of 4–7 people in a particular school or parish interested in making the journey choose one who has experience in working with groups to facilitate it. She/he who assumes this responsibility for a group keeps in regular contact with the team.
A SHARING GROUP
For individual participants not making the Meditations in a communal setting, it is recommended that they meet as a group a number of times throughout the journey (fortnightly/monthly) to share from their experience of each of the hours.
CERTIFICATES & ACCREDITATION
Certificates will be awarded to those who complete the course.
Course is accredited by Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Brisbane and by Sydney Catholic Schools.
A number of awardees have gained accreditation within their relevant institutions/governing bodies.
DONATION
A donation for the course is $150.
